Job Description

If you love variety in where you drive, you’ll love it here at Delta!  This driver is responsible for taking equipment and railroad construction materials to and from various job sites and to our rental customers.  One week you could be doing local deliveries and the next you could be picking up equipment from a job site 8 states away!  Flexibility is a must because the schedule can change unexpectedly as a need comes up.  There is no shortage of trips here!  Occasionally a trip runs into the weekend, but we keep the work between Monday and Friday as much as possible.

Duties and Responsibilities:  Responsible for the safe loading and unloading of construction equipment; Perform daily safety inspections; Responsible for notifying supervisor if vehicle needs to be repaired; Drive truck equipped with different trailer combinations-Lowboy, Flatbed and Step deck; Maintain completed electronic log (ELDs) and paperwork; Other duties as assigned.

Full-time; $26.00 per hour

Day shift; Monday-Friday, Overtime

Job Requirements

Qualifications:  Valid Class A CDL license, standard transmission; Must be familiar wit the safe operation of construction equipment, railroad equipment preferred; Able to work day or night shifts as required; Knowledge of all USDOT and FMCSA safety regulations; Experience with airbrakes and standard transmission; Ability to calculate weights of equipment with truck/trailer combo to stay within DOT permitting restrictions and guidelines; Knowledge of FMCSA cargo securement rules and regulations.

Pre-Employment Requirements:  Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review; Pass pre-employment drug screen; This position requires you to pass and maintain a DOT medical evaluation; Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.

Physical Requirements:  Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow and sleet), uneven surfaces, safety sensitive work environment; Able to walk on uneven surfaces over sometimes great distances; Use hands to perform activities involving grasping, turning, holding and pulling; Able to work in conditions with loud noise, work around heavy/moving machinery, bend, walk, and stand for extended periods of time; Available to work a 40 hour work week, extended hours when necessary, on call and alternate shifts that may include weeknights, weekends and holidays; Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
