Job Description

LEADERship Ashtabula County is seeking qualified applicants for the position Youth Program Manager.

LEADERship Ashtabula County has been helping Ashtabula County residents grow and become engaged with the community since 1989.  It is our goal to encourage, educate, and stimulate individuals of all ages to become more familiar with, more interested in, and engaged in all facets of civic endeavor that affect Ashtabula County citizens.

Through both adult and high school programs LEADERship is able to reach a wide range of individuals with unique backgrounds and qualifications.

POSITION SUMMARY:  The Program Manager is responsible for curricular, logistical, and financial planning and execution of the Leadership Ashtabula County programs designed to develop leadership skills in established professionals, high school juniors and adolescents, specifically the Youth Leadership Program, and the Senior YL2 Program.  The position requires a high level of conceptual thinking, analytical skills, flexibility and initiative to achieve professional and program goals with minimum supervision.  As a member of a small, highly-talented team, the position requires a high level of energy and team commitment.

The Program Manager reports to the Executive Director.   Responsibilities of this position include providing regular reports on program outcomes for internal and external communications.  As a front-line member of the organization, this position is expected to represent the organization with professional demeanor and appearance at all times.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:  With the Executive Director, plans and manages all aspects of the Youth Leadership Program and YL2 Program; In conjunction with the Executive Director, develops the annual operating budget for all youth leadership development programs and manages expenditures; Ensures participants are progressing in leadership skills and competencies as evidenced through action demonstrating support of the values of Leadership Ashtabula County:  relationship building, inclusiveness, mutual respect and trust, and collaboration; Supports the organizational efficiency and effectiveness of Leadership Ashtabula County; Facilitates alumni involvement as an integral component of all programs.

All staff members are required to be present at the following days:  Opening Retreat of the Signature Program, the Midyear Retreat, all Program Graduations, and the Annual Fundraising Event.

POSITION QUALIFCATIONS:  Committed to the mission, vision, and values of Leadership Ashtabula County; Bachelor’s degree in Education, Communications, or related field; Program budget development and performance experience; Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing groups, projects, and initiatives; Demonstrated commitment to high ethical standards, personal performance, and accountability; Strong individual initiative and team member balance; Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills, openness to direction and a collaborative management style; Excellent written and oral communication skills; Software proficiency:  Microsoft Office, Course Sites (Blackboard or Google Classroom) and database management; Excels at working in a fast paced, community environment; Ability to collaborate with internal and external constituents for goal attainment; Knowledge of Ashtabula County; Alumnus of or willing to complete the Signature Program in the first full program year after hire; Strong commitment to community leadership, youth development and service.
