Job Description

This role administers company safety and health policies and programs as they pertain to the natural gas industry and construction.  Identifies potential safety, health and fire protection risks and implements corrective measures.  Monitors and evaluates the workplace to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.  Performs safety and health inspections/audits and monitors work practices to ensure employees are performing jobs in compliance with regulatory and company safety policies and programs.  Develops, implements and conducts safety, health and fire prevention training.  Develops/audits company safety policies, conducts monthly safety meetings, serves on safety committees, conducts root cause investigations of incidents and recommends corrective measures, and conduct onsite safety orientations with contractors.  Involved in identifying, evaluating and controlling chemical exposures in the workplace and performing other industrial hygiene related activities.  Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Minimum five years of directly related experience administering safety and health programs; in-depth knowledge of 29 CFR 1910 and 1926 OSHA Standards; Knowledge of industrial hygiene sampling and surveying techniques, In-depth knowledge of safety metrics, root cause analysis techniques, excavation safety, confined space entry, fall protection requirements, hot work safety, gas pipeline safety, hazard communication, mobile equipment requirements and mobile crane safety; Experience in developing and implementing safety and health related training presentations;  Effective verbal and written communication skills; Effective personal computer skills (Microsoft Suite:  Power Point, Excel and Word); Excellent time and project management skills and ability to work well with minimal supervision.    Preferred Qualifications and Certifications:  Certification in one or more of the following disciplines:  Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, or Professional Engineer; Knowledge of hazardous material/chemical management and transportation.  For additional information visit:https://careers.dominionenergy.com/job/CANTON-Senior-Safety-Specialist-OH-44706/564089000/
