The position coordinates the daily and weekly work schedules of construction crews with the contractor foremen. Inspects the installation and maintenance of pipelines and related facilities in order to ensure that the required codes, standards and specifications are met. May work under the direction of like classifications and/or supervisor, but is often left to own resourcefulness to accomplish the work. May lead, direct and assign the work of like classifications as well as contractors. Maintains records of activities on the pipelines, including maintenance reports, corrosion reports, requisitions, change orders, field notes, daily reports and logs. Responsible for monitoring contractors Operator Qualification status and ensuring contract workers are following the operator qualification rules. Responds to construction calls from outside parties to ensure no damage is done to company pipelines or facilities. Ensures pipeline operations meet required codes and standards. Oversees construction of gas pipelines, metering, compression and regulation facilities, transportation and work equipment. Works with internal and external customers to ensure safety, minimize disruptions and assist in resolving problems. Conducts training and safety sessions for Company personnel. Anticipates and identifies problems and works with team members to develop solutions.
Five years experience as a Pipeline Inspector or equivalent experience. Knowledge of welding rules and procedures, API 1104 and DOT 192. Knowledge of tapping, locating, plastic fusion and other construction equipment. Knowledge of pipe diameters, thickness, grades and ANSI ratings in relation to one another. Knowledge of steel pipeline construction and construction of related facilities (e.g. end facilities and regulator stations). Knowledge of federal, state and municipal codes, standards and specifications related to pipelines, environmental, and related facilities. Knowledge of safety policies and procedures. Basic math skills. Skilled in the use of inspection and construction equipment. Ability to smell and detect burning materials, natural gas, hazardous substances such as ammonia and solvents and toxic substances found in hazardous wastes. Ability to hear approaching equipment on construction site. Ability to read and interpret design drawings, contracts and permits. Good verbal and oral communication skills. Current drivers license.
