Job Description

Purpose:  Assist Grounds Supervisor in maintaining the grounds and all properties.  This position will require heavy lifting and knowledge and the use of lawn equipment and other related equipment.

Responsibilities:  Mows lawns, trims weeds, and rakes leaves as assigned; Picks up and removes trash prior to mowing a designated area; Empties trash; Trims bushes, shrubs, and hedges; Prepares soil, bushes, hedges or shrubs; Plants trees and prunes them when necessary; Cuts and removes trees as needed; Follows procedures for all burials and entombments using Checklist provided by Ground Supervisor; Operates heavy equipment to include, dump truck, backhoe and tractors; Maintains the grounds and Mausoleum by cleaning each day using Checklist provided by Grounds Supervisor; Communicates with Management and office staff daily; Completes work orders from cemetery office; Completes foundations and the setting of memorials and granite in cemetery gardens; Applies fertilizer, pesticides, and herbicides as directed; Completes snow removal tasks such as shoveling sidewalks, steps, and doorways as needed; Operates snowblower to clear roads, driveways, and parking lots; Performs routine maintenance and storage of lawn equipment; Perform other duties as may be assigned by management.

Reports Prepared:  Weekly Checklists for Interments / Entombments; Weekly Checklists for Grounds and Mausoleum Maintenance.

Interface:  Internal-co-workers, management/ownership; External-customers, supply vendors, government workers.
